Al-Anon is a support group for the friends and family members of individuals who struggle with alcohol addiction. The organization follows a specific meeting format in order to create a safe and supportive space for participants to share their experiences and offer mutual support to one another. The meetings typically begin with a moment of silence, during which participants are encouraged to reflect on their own thoughts and feelings. This is followed by the reading of the Al-Anon preamble, which outlines the purpose and principles of the organization.
Next, a designated member of the group leads the group in the Serenity Prayer, which is a well-known prayer that asks for the strength and courage to accept the things that cannot be changed, the wisdom to know the difference, and the serenity to accept the things that cannot be changed. After the opening ritual, the group leader will introduce any visitors and ask if anyone is attending their first meeting. If so, the group will welcome the newcomer and offer support and encouragement.

This page is not intended to replace the Minnesota South Area web site. The links are provided for the convenience of members. Each district should have a District Representative DR as well as other District officers, but not all do. Most districts have regularly scheduled district meetings to which every group in the district is entitled to send its GR. Minnesota South Area is divided into 21 Districts.
Previous to redistricting accomplished at the March Area Assembly, there were 44 districts, although many were not organized and existed only on paper, lacking even a DR. There were even a couple of districts with no groups. Before the redistricting, multiple districts for example Districts 31 — 33 functioned as a single district. The March redistricting made such combinations single districts.
The maps show the new district boundaries which were adopted by the Minnesota South Area Assembly in March The definition of new districts was in terms of the previous districts.
The details of these boundaries are based on a document which describes the boundaries of the previous 44 districts.
